About Computer PO
Why Computer PO?
For years now offenders have referred to their probation or parole officer as their "PO." Computer PO is a quick, short description of a 21st Century officer who merges advanced technologies with "traditional" techniques in the management of offender risk, particularly in cyberspace. Someday, hopefully in the not too distant future, the description will be redundant as all officers and their agencies grow to incorporate these concepts in community supervision.

I have over 26 years experience in law enforcement and corrections and am the author of book,The Cybercrime Handbook for Community Corrections: Managing Offender Risk in the 21st
Century, (Charles C. Thomas, Publisher, LTD, March 20, 2012). The book is the first and only text specifically for pretrial, probation, and parole officers on supervising
defendants/offenders' computer and Internet use. Besides this book, I have written numerous law enforcement and corrections articles published by Perspectives, an American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) publication , Federal Probation, and the FBI Law

promoting awareness and knowledge of cybercrime and tools to combat such crimes in the field of community corrections. I have developed and taught college level courses in corrections and
cybercrime and am an Adjunct Professor at Chancellor University. I also write a regular blog, The Three C's (Computers, Crime and Corrections). I have an undergraduate and graduate degree in criminal justice and corrections from
Kent State University.
